BETHEL Facing nearly 60 employees who are again out of work, a co-owner of Sunday River Brewing Co. in Bethel made his case Tuesday that the state reconsider its previous decision not to renew the restaurant’s eating and catering license.
The business owners, brothers Rick and Ron Savage of Bethel, hoped to get a last-minute reprieve from the court before the license expired Dec. 19, but will now have to wait for an appeal decision from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Rick and Ron Savage, owners of the Bethel establishment, are hoping to reopen their restaurant and bar and keep their liquor license from being revoked.

That was how Wednesday’s court arguments were presented to a judge who must decide whether Sunday River Brewing Co. in Bethel must remain closed until Dec. 10 and whether the restaurant and bar may lose its liquor license or be fined.
Oxford County Superior Court Justice Thomas McKeon said after hearing a full day of testimony Wednesday that he would make a decision by Friday.
