A special nature walk

A special nature walk March 7, 2021 Islamabad: The Asian Study Group environment section, has organized a special nature walk along the ancient Alexander Route through the scenic Margala Hills on March 14th. Participants will traverse through the area and briefed on the indigenous wildlife, local flora, history, heritage / ancient cultures and the environmental impacts of deforestation in the region. Given the season, spring will be at its peak, with birds that are unique to this area serenading the trekkers with their songs! The route will begin at the base camp at Gharyala next to the Buddha Caves and from there to the Kenthla mountain top (some parts of the area are in Haripur District of KP). After reaching the walking track at Papran De Khoe, a 120 minutes nature trek will begin and participants will be able to observe signs of mining in the region and fossils preserved from various geologic ages.

The directions from the premier came while presiding over a meeting of government officials wherein they apprised PM Imran of matters related to Broadsheet, foreign funding case and crackdown against land grabbers. “The PML-N [Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz] has always provided patronage to occupiers of government lands,” the premier said. “No one can occupy government land without political patronage,” he added.

City admin plans action against encroachment Officials backing landgrabbers to face music ISLAMABAD: Top bosses of the city sat together on Friday to mull action against land grabbers and encroachers. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Aamir Ali Ahmed chaired a high level meeting to eliminate land grabbing and encroachment on Friday. IGP Qazi Jameelur Rehman, Operations DIG Afzal Ahmed Kauser, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat, Operations SSP Mustafa Tanvir and CDA officials attended the meeting. Officials of revenue department were also present in the meeting convened to take important decisions regarding the city. The meeting decided to clear encroachment from Islamabad Highway, Margala Hills and green areas was taken during the session.
