51-year-old Marcy Oglesby of Maquon was released on her recognizance Monday after a judge previously dismissed murder charges against her. Judge Andrew Doyle granted a state motion Monday to release Oglesby. Oglesby was previously accused of murdering the former Maquon Police Chief Richard Young and is still facing charges of concealing his death by placing his body in a Maquon storage locker. Judge Doyle dismissed murder charges because he believed the charges filed in February violated Oglesby's right to a speedy trial. Prosecutors allege that Oglesby poisoned Young with eye drops and other medication, then hid his body in the storage unit. Knox County State's Attorney Jeremy Karlin says that "failure to release the defendant could jeopardize a future prosecution of the defendant."
