The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted many health disparities across the globe, and Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is supporting organizations who can address disparities that are occurring right here in Maricopa County.
Amid a national shortage of nurses, many Arizona hospitals cannot fully staff the few free beds they have remaining.The Maricopa County Department of Public Health says it's taking steps to help relieve the pressure.The health department's more than 6,000-member Medical Reserve Corps of volunteers will fill in staffing gaps where possible.Executive director Marcy Flanagan says
A Food and Drug Administration panel is expected to meet next week to consider emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for kids ages 5 to 11. Maricopa County Public Health is already making a plan to get Arizona children vaccinated.
