Body found in Elmira identified by police ELMIRA, N.Y. (WBNG) The Elmira Police Department says it found a dead body near Newtown Creek between East Avenue and the Lackawanna Trail on March 10. The Police Department has identified the body as 30-year-old Marcus J. Jones of Elmira, N.Y. As of Friday afternoon, police say the death is considered suspicious, however, there is no threat to the safety of the public. They also say no signs of trauma were found but the cause of death has yet to be determined. Authorities did not release more information.
