Vogel Family To Host Manitowoc County Breakfast On The Farm

Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm is on for 2021 in Reedsville

View Comments REEDSVILLE - As a country girl, it’s hard to imagine a world without corn fields and cow pastures, but for many families, events like the Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm is their first chance to see a cow up close and to learn about where milk and cheese come from. This year, the event will be held at Vogel Family Farms in Reedsville, an operation consisting of brothers Guy and Marcus Vogel, their wives Kay and Anita, Guy’s son Gabe and his wife Ashley Grotegut, and Marcus’ daughter Amanda Linsmeier and her husband Matt. Their family farm began in 1958 at a site just up the road from their current farm on Hilltop Road in Reedsville. Guy’s and Marcus’ parents, Marcellus and JoAnn, started farming with just 17 cows and five youngstock (a term used to describe young farm animals).

Vermont books make great gifts - The Mountain Times

The Mountain Times By Brooke Geery Struggling to find the perfect gift for that hard-to-please friend or family member? May we suggest the gift of reading? We have teamed up with Phoenix Books in Rutland to compile a list of books either about Vermont, or written here, to help give you some ideas. “Prisoner of Hope” by Yvonne Daley The morning after the 2016 election, after a nearly 20-year hiatus from writing poetry, the award-winning journalist Yvonne Daley awoke to a poem already forming in her brain. In the intervening years, poetry has been her outlet and her solace as she has expressed her sorrow and disillusionment while seeking comfort in the power of love, nature and hope. Daley lives in Rutland with her husband, the writer Chuck Clarino, and two Maltese dogs.
