CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team (9-6, 0-3 ACC) competed well against Georgia Tech Wednesday night at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility against Georgia Tech (10-7, 1-2 ACC) but came up short, 4-1. QUOTE The Tigers got out the gates strong in doubles but were unable to secure the win on Court 2, losing 6-2. Spencer Whitaker and Ryuhei Azuma battled from Court 1 against the No. 15 doubles team in the country in Marcus McDaniel/Andres Martin, but narrowly dropped the match 6-4. Matt Pitts and Jorge Plans Gonzalez were up 4-3, but the match went unfinished. M. Pitts continued his steady play by tying things up for the Tigers 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 win on Court 4. Georgia Tech didn’t back down though, securing points on Courts 3 and 5 to extend their lead to 3-1. Max Smith battled on Court 6 to push a tiebreak in the second game but would ultimately drop his match, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
