UNC's Marcus Garvey Cultural Center will build and decorate Little Free Libraries for the UNC campus. The libraries, which will be installed in the spring and summer, will contain books focused on social justice education.
“At the core, it’s about freedom and liberation,” said Teresa Castro, a small business owner and UNC employee who participated in the Juneteenth event.
"As it's designed, it's meant to be communal and informal," Marcus Garvey Cultural Center Director janine weaver-douglas said. "It's about establishing a tradition. We're not looking to changes. We're trying to go deeper. We want to add to the opportunity for engagement."
