Siena poll: Most New Yorkers think COVID crisis will get worse
ALBANY New Yorkers are pessimistic about the coronavirus pandemic.
A majority of Empire State residents, despite living through hell last spring, think the worst of the COVID-19 crisis is yet to come, according to a Siena College poll released Tuesday.
The poll found that 55% of those surveyed believe the darkest days lay ahead, while only 31% have a slightly more positive view, saying the state has turned a corner.
“Unlike some issues that divide New Yorkers by partisanship, geography or race, this question doesn’t,” said Siena pollster Steven Greenberg. “A majority of between 50 and 61 percent of Democrats, Republicans, independents, upstaters, downstaters, Black, Latino and white voters all think the worst of the pandemic is still in front of us.”
