APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) A mural in downtown Appleton will need to be taken down just a few months after it was created.
Appleton Downtown Inc. says the building that has hosted the Downtown Unites mural since June will need structural repairs to the wall where the mural was painted. The owner of the building at the corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street says she discovered the deteriorating wall when she was preparing the building for a new tenant.
“As such, we have been given an opportunity to restore yet another downtown building to its original charm through the re-introduction of the historic windows to this space,” owner Marcie Harris said in a news release. “My husband, Jim, and I loved the mural and its representation for our city so much that we have commissioned (artist Irineo Medina) to produce another mural for our community in 2021.”
