The longest dry spell in the Cape Fear region in years will be coming to an end. If not on Tuesday, then certainly later in the week.
The month of March has given gardens and fields a chance to recover from one of the wettest winters in history. Honestly, it s been nice to be able to stroll, rather than slosh, in many spots around the region. Fayetteville picked up about 1/8-inch of rain on March 1 and since then .. nada. There are some spots in the region that have received only a trace, or no rain at all.
The last time we had such a long dry spell? Late September and early October of 2019, which was also the last time any part of the region was considered abnormally dry.
