it s difficult to conceive of a world without her. not only a uniquely brilliant singer but her commitment to civil rights made her an indelible impact on the world. the reverend al sharpton joins us now. let s talk about that, her impact on world and impact on civil rights. i think one of the things i was talking to arlene, aretha s sister yesterday, and one of the things that she really wanted people to know about her was her commitment to civil rights. her father reverend cl franklin was to martin luther king and the march in detroit that led to the march in washington in 63 was where dr. king first talked about i have a dream. that was co-chaired by her father. so she literally grew up in the movement. she used to tell me all the time that in the last year dr. king s life, she did concerts with harry belafonte to raise money
