seen what is left of their town and it s not much. what is even more horrific is that these same stories are playing out all over the south. back to you, gregg. gregg: what a sad and tragic story. casey stegall in alabama. thank you. heather: the situation in mississippi is dire as well. the death toll there now stands at 36. in the northeast part of the state, the town of smithville took a heavy beating from a monster tornado. much of the small community unrecognizable. main street, town hall and the school are all virtually destroyed. the baptist church has completely vanished. gregg: as we just said, this week s twister outbreak is the second deadliest day from tornadoes in our history, the most deadly, march 18, 1925. 747 people killed that day when tornadoes raged through missouri, illinois and indiana. this week at least 342 people died in seven states.
