World champion Nesthy Petecio and two fellow boxers were the first athletes to enter the training bubble for the Tokyo Olympics aspirants in three combat sports which formally started on Friday at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
Petecio, the gold medal winner in the featherweight division of the 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships held in Russia, arrived at the “Calambubble” along with Marjon Planar and Junmilardo Ogayre all the way from Davao City.

THE planned return to training of national athletes vying for a spot in the rescheduled Olympic Games at the weekend did not push through and instead was delayed by a week, but the Philippine Sports Commissionâs (PSC) reminder on safety stays.
In a virtual orientation last week, the PSC reiterated that while the return to training of the athletes is very important with less than 200 days to go before the sporting spectacle to be held in Tokyo and final qualifiers for it just around the corner, such should not be done at the expense of proper health and safety protocols.
