weather on the way. 73 in washington and 70 in prince georges county. right now arlington and fairfax in the upper 60s, closer to the bay it s around 70. eastern shore as well. in the mountains in the 50s this morning and in western maryland and much and west virginia. we this had drier air continuing to push in. we ll have a few high clouds through the day today. then we ll have into the mid 80s with the lower humidity still in place all the way into saturday. looks like an extended break here coming up. the first day we won t get to 90 today in 11 days. then tomorrow, a bit cooler, morning lows in the 50s in rurl areas and low 60s in downtown region and in the afternoon only around 80 for a high and partly cloudy. low humidity in place on friday. morning lows mid-50s to low 60s. a little bit hotter on saturday, but still not a lot of humidity. now, jerry, how s the traffic? breaking news that will affect your commute this morning if you travel northern virginia. live pict

areas just to our north are seeing the moon get low. as we take a look at the temperatures, they changed from yesterday. only near 20 in washington and nearby suburbs. teens around the blue ridge and shenandoah valley. these are the wind chills. winds gusting 20 to 25 miles per hour. feels like single digits. southern shenandoah valley and very charlottesville to richmond at this hour. that s the zone by the way under a winter storm warnings into the carolinas they can get heavy amounts of snow open we re on the northern ends of this storm here in the washington area. doesn t look like we ll get much. we ll have a blustery cold day today, partly cloudy with highs only near freezing and that snow moving in tomorrow and we ll have some accumulating snow with highs in the 20s. sun returns on sunday and monday. i expect for us starting about 6:00 tomorrow morning ending by 6:00 p.m. about two to four inches around the d.c. metro area. that band in the middle to the north, just a

good morning. welcome back to 11 news today. i m lisa robinson. thanks for joining us. we re going to get a check on weather and traffic together. is it traffic first? ok. it s weather. i talked to kim. whatever way you want. obviously a record-break snowstorm. 20579-inches officially at the airport. winter hasn t even begun yet. temperatures today at 12:47. the winte went solstice. you might want to honor it by make ago i big snowman or snowball at 12:47. in the meantime, not a lot of melting because temperatures are still in the mid to upper 20 s across the board. winds are pretty light and out of the west, picking up later this afternoon. taking a look at today s specifically, a mix of sun and clouds. 33 to 36 degrees with westerly winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour. then tonight 17 to 24. so talk about a frigid start to winter. going to need to bundle up in the morning for sure. be aware of ice on the roads. the plow yesterday but it s pretty frozen. the secon
