And when they did get the green light, the Chemics made the most of the opportunity. Led by a trio of talented third-year starters, Midland won its first eight games of the season, all in convincing fashion, climbed as high as No. 3 in the Division 2 state rankings, beat archrival Dow High decisively twice, and claimed another Saginaw Valley League North Division championship before the Chemics season finally ended with a 30-22 loss to a very big and very skilled Traverse City Central team in a district final.
