LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Saturday accused Federal Law Minister Farogh Nasim of linking its annual grant with a resolution against Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who recently survived a reference from the federal government.
“The law minister has been pressurising us to pass a resolution against Justice Isa like some other small bar associations in Punjab have done recently,” LHCBA secretary Khwaja Mohsin Abbas told

LAHORE: The Hamid Khan-led Professional group returned to the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) after a gap of three years with Maqsood Buttar notching the top slot of president with a significant margin in an annual election held on Saturday for 2021-22.
The Independent group, better known as late Asma Jahangir’s group, retained the top slot for three consecutive years since 2018.
Buttar bagged 5,639 votes and his rival Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar of the Independent group obtained 3,888 in a one-on-one contest.
A total of 9,583 out of 21,667 cleared voters cast their votes in the polling held on the biometric system.

LAHORE: The stage is set for the annual elections of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) for the year 2021-22 with the candidates of the two main rival groups Professional and Independent in the run for the top slot of president.
Maqsood Buttar of the Hamid Khan-led Professional Group is trying his luck for the second time as last year he lost his election against the outgoing president Tahir Nasarullah Warraich. This year, Buttar faces Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar of the Independent Group, better known as the late Asma Jahangir Group. Dogar is a former secretary of the LHCBA and Buttar has been elected as a member of the Pakistan Bar Council in the past. The lawyers’ wings of the PPP, the PTI and the JI have announced support for Buttar while the PML-N is backing Dogar.
