A massive fire broke out on Monday evening at Mao Market, BOC area in Kohima gutting down several shops and residential homes. At the time of filing of this report, the fire which was yet to be contained had spread towards Porterlane colony, Kohima.
Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) under Home department conducted the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx), a state-wide mega mock exercise, on November 17. The exercise was conducted simulating an earthquake scenario with a magnitude of 8.7 on the Richter scale. The exercise was carried out to test the capability of the state to respond and also manage any mega-disaster, a DIPR report stated. Mon: In Mon, an incident response team for the exercise was instituted with the deputy commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, as the responsible officer and the ADC of Mon, Y Chingyak Konyak, as the incident commander. The exercise was carried out in four incident sites at Home Guard and Civil Defence and SDRF Office, KNSK building, DPRO office building, and District Hospital. Four strike teams comprising SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services, and Medical personnel were dispatched to the incident sites. The exercise concluded with a debriefing of
Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): In a run-up to the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx), several districts including, Kohima, Longleng, Kiphire and Chümoukedima conducted a table top exercises on November 15. The Kohima district disaster management authority (DDMA), in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, conducted a table top exercise in the DC’s office conference hall. The additional deputy commissioner and incident commander of DDMA Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, chaired the meeting and briefed the line departments and stakeholders. The ADC informed that a mock exercise simulating an earthquake measuring 8.7 Richter scale would be conducted on November 17 in Kohima town.
