It is my task to report the state of the union. To improve it is the task of us all. Tonight, thanks to the grit and determination of the American People, there is much progress to report. After decade of grinding war our brave men and women in uniform are coming home. [ cheers and applause ] after years of grueling recession, our businesses have created over 6 million new jobs. We buy more american cars than we have in five years and less foreign oil than we have in 20. [ applause ] our Housing Market is healing, our stock market is rebounding and consumers patience and homeowners enjoy stronger protections than ever before. [ applause ] so, together, we have cleared away the rubble of crisis, and we can say with renewed confidence that the state of our union is stronger. [ applause ] but we gather here knowing that there are millions of americans whose hard work and dedication have not yet been rewarded. Our economy is adding jobs, but too many people still cant find full time employ
Businesses are now paying close to 50 if youre in a state like california, new york, youre paying more than 50 in tax. The top 5 pay over 50 of the income tax revenue in this country. This has to stop. The president has to stop this. And i dont think, i think he understands government. I dont think he understands that a vigorous government requires a vigorous private sector. The only way you will get a vigorous private sector if the government backs off and lets the Dynamic Energy of the private sector go forward.
