Horizon House Sober Living is making plans to open another house for men transitioning from substance abuse treatment to independent living in Superior.
Owner Joe Brennan, who operates two sober living houses in Duluth, said the mission of Horizon House is to provide a safe, secure, sober living environment that is structured and requires residents to follow strict guidelines with a manager on-site. Guidelines include requiring residents to work, volunteer or be in school a minimum of 32 hours a week; cleaning tasks; attending weekly house and Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings; and submit to random drug tests.

ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WSFA) - Two suspects in a November murder have been taken into custody, Andalusia city officials said.
Tyquise Jamal Jenkins, 23, and Courtney Lee Porter, 29, have been charged with murder.
Andalusia police said the men were wanted for the murder of 26-year-old Micah Spenser Coon. In November, Coon died of a gunshot wound at a residence on George Street.
Earlier this month, Brittany Head, 22, also was charged with murder, according to police. She remains in the Covington County Jail on a $1.15 million bond.
Now the Superior Plan Commission is considering options that could help make the city’s limited resources go farther.
“I want to gauge your feelings on a change to the small business grant program,” said Mayor Jim Paine, who initiated the discussion. “It’s been fairly successful. We’ve awarded our full capacity of grants and helped a number of businesses. That success kind of underlies my concern with it. At some point it’s going to be hard to fund this program, and I think that’s going to come sooner rather than later.”
Paine said he’s worried about maintaining the solvency of the economic development fund, which pays for the grants.
