With Baird out, Liberal hopefuls line up for Warringah

With Baird out, Liberal hopefuls line up for Warringah Save Share The decision by former NSW premier Mike Baird to reject Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s overture to run in the once-safe Sydney seat of Warringah may allow a state MP, Natalie Ward, to become the candidate of the Liberal Party’s left faction. Mr Baird, the chief executive of nursing home group HammondCare, has ruled himself out of running for the seat held by independent Zali Steggall. Mike Baird has told Liberal Party members he does not want to run in Warringah.  Peter Braig Columnist Peter FitzSimons wrote two weeks ago that Mr Morrison invited Mr Baird to his Sydney residence in Kirribilli to encourage him to run. Mr Baird’s mother, Judy, died on Tuesday.
