Five Snr. Brigadiers of the Sri Lanka Army have been promoted to the rank of Major Generals by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in view of new year 2021.
The promotions were made on the recommendation of the Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva.
The promoted Brigadiers are Manoj Lamahewa, Ajith Dissanayake, Dhamma Hewage, Manjula Karunaratne and Lal Chandrasiri.
In addition, for the first time in the history of the Special Forces of the Sri Lanka Army, a record 560 other ranks have been promoted to the next rank.
Accordingly, Two were promoted to the rank of Warrant Officers 1, 18 to the rank of Warrant Officers II, 61 to the rank of Staff Sergeants, 84 to the rank of Sergeants, 325 to the rank of Corporals and 70 as Lance Corporal.
