YOURSAY | Politics, education, sports - sexism permeates our society
Modified3:07 am
Manjit Bhatia: I don t think religion alone is contributing to the viciously sexist comments by morons targeting women in general and those in the news specifically, such as Olympian gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi.
Religion may warp one’s sanity and promote racism and bigotry but look at the education system. It is revolting, by and large. Its aim is to indoctrinate and create unthinking, unimaginative zombies to extract compliance and conformity, just as mass religion does.
The other problem is the feudal nature of not just one ethnic group but all ethnic groups in Malaysia, from which spring nasty and oppressive patriarchal attitudes and practices that culminate in state-level patrimonialism.
YOURSAY | Whatever govt with same PM will make no difference
Modified1:08 am
Manjit Bhatia: Political scientist Wong Chin Huat said: To break the stalemate without breaking democracy, there are only two realistic solutions: first, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin reaching out to the opposition, whether Pakatan Harapan, Warisan or other minor parties for a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) to secure a comfortable majority that enables governance.
“Second, Umno reaching out to Harapan to gather a positive majority and go to the palace.
Forget the second option. It s a long shot. Too long, too desperate and too many voters will read it for what it is not.

YOURSAY | ‘What guarantee do you want, Wan Saiful? You took our govt, now we want it back.’
Coward: What Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan meant is do not challenge my interest . He will accommodate and discuss issues others regard as public interest if it does not threaten his own interest.
For this, he is wrong. Public interest is not for one person to define, be it opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, him, or me.
Public interest is collectively defined. In Parliament, this means anything that gets a significant number of MPs support - whether that discussion leads to the passing of a law or not is immaterial.

YOURSAY | If the joke is not funny, it isn t. Ain Husniza deserves to be taken seriously.
VioletCamel2167: Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam, you are such an inspiration. Power and kudos to you and your family.
We need more people like you who will stand up for important issues in the community and beat back the naysayers who are not moving with evolution.
The PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) response categorising it as a possible joke is despicable and unprofessional - at least you have exposed the complete lack of awareness and expertise in this area of public concerns (despite all the learning and training all these years).

YOURSAY | The govt never goes bankrupt, it is the rakyat who will be taken to the cleaners.
Dr Raman Letchumanan: Mr Finance Minister aka top banker, reading the news about how dire our financial situation is like reading my own opinion piece I wrote on Feb 10 entitled Malaysia s economic life: Sick or terminally ill?
I see so many similarities, just that I said it six weeks ago, at the time you and your government were raving about how well the economy is doing and predicting a V-shaped rebound to pre-pandemic days within the year.
