The BJP in November appointed
MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar, 54, to head the party’s campaign for next year’s
BMC polls. The party sees the civic election as an opportunity to settle scores with its ally-turned-foe, Shiv Sena, by wresting control of the country’s richest corporation.
Bhatkhalkar is a second-term legislator from Kandivali East. He has held organisational posts in the party’s Mumbai and Maharashtra units.
Bhatkhalkar expects the February 2022 polls to be a multi-corner contest.
He spoke to Mumbai Mirror on the party’s strategy for the high-stakes election.
