Governor Aminu Waziri of Sokoto State has reiterated the urgent need for Nigeria to be protected and stable taking into consideration the security challenges it is currently facing.
The governor stated this on Friday while commending the Nigerian Armed Forces for doing their best in keeping the country united over the years. He stated this at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day held at Ahmad Maigero Open Theatre in Sokoto, the state capital.
“We need to actually do more to resecure this country,” he said, just as he appealed to the security forces to collaborate between themselves, show commitment to their official pledge and sink their energy into rescuing the country totally.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, yesterday said he was on self-isolation.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Sokoto, the governor said, “following my official trips in the past few days, during which I was in close contact with some personalities, some of whom have tested positive to COVID-19, I have been medically advised to go into self-isolation.
“I will withdraw from official and physical engagements for the period prescribed by the COVID-19 protocols, with effect from Friday, December 18, 2020.”
He directed that in his absence, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya (Walin Sokoto), will carry on all official functions as laid down in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has gone into self-isolation after contacts with some persons who tested positive for COVID-19.
The governor in a statement said “Following my official trips in the past few days, during which I was in close contact with some personalities, some of whom have tested positive to COVID-19, I have been medically advised to go into self-isolation.
As a result, I will withdraw from official and physical engagements for the period prescribed by the COVID-19 protocols, with effect from Friday, Dec. 18, 2020”.
He noted that in his absence the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya (Walin Sokoto), will carry on all official functions as laid down in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor has asked his Deputy Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya (Walin Sokoto), to be in charge of “all official functions” as laid down in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
During this period, “I will subject myself to the prescribed testing procedure as required by the Sokoto State Task Force on COVID-19, the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) protocols”.
