Manipur CM bats for annual Manipur State Olympic Games

Our Correspondent IMPHAL, Aug. 23 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, suggested holding of the Manipur State Olympic Games every year by providing adequate funds in the budget of the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS), Government of Manipur. Singh made the suggestion while reviewing the arrangements taken up for the 2nd Manipur State Olympic Games 2022 at the chief minister’s secretariat here on Tuesday. He also mentioned that holding such games would foster communal harmony in the state and improve the moral standard of youths. The review meeting also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of various committees constituted for effective conduct of the games. Manipur: CWG medal winners accorded warm welcome

Our Correspondent Imphal, Aug. 14 (EMN): Two Manipuri hockey players — Sh Nilakanta Sharma and Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam  — who made India proud in the recently concluded Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, by winning silver and bronze medals as part of the national men’s and women’s hockey teams respectively — were accorded a warm welcome when they returned home on Sunday. On their arrival at the Bir Tikendrajit International airport, Hockey Manipur team along with local club members, well wishers, and respective family members welcomed the two medalists by garlanding them and shouting praising slogans.
