MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 2,196 new Covid-19 infections, marking another drop in the number of cases from Wednesday's 2,671. This is the fourth straight day the Philippines logged cases below 3,000. In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said there were 4,409 new recoveries, lower than Wednesday's 6,130, that bring the country's total recoveries to 3,524,875 or 96.7 percent of all confirmed cases. To date, there are 66,588 active cases of Covid-19 nationwide, with about 93 percent made up of mild or asymptomatic cases. Most active cases have mild symptoms at 60,848, followed by those with moderate symptoms at 2,913, the asymptomatic at 1,090, those with severe symptoms at 1,428, and those in critical condition at 309. There were 107 new deaths attributed to Covid-19, which brings the total of local Covid-19 deaths to 55,330 or 1.52 percent of confirmed cases.
