Chacko made NCP chief in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, May 19 : Former senior Congress leader P.C. Chacko was on Wednesday appointed as the NCP s new Kerala President by party supremo Sharad Pawar.
A press statement issued by party General Secretary and former Union Minister Praful Patel, said Chacko, 74, has been asked to assume office immediately. He replaces veteran T.P. Peethamabaran, who has been heading the NCP s Kerala unit for some time now.
Incidentally, unlike the national level where it is allied with the Congress, the NCP in Kerala is part of the CPI-M led Left Democratic Front.

Thiruvananthapuram, May 3 : Jose K. Mani is referred to as the politician born with a silver spoon in Kerala politics as he has always reached levels in political fabric of the state only because of being the son of Kerala Congress legend K.M. Mani.
But he suffered the worst electoral reversal on Sunday when he lost to Mani C. Kappen at the Pala assembly constituency which was the citadel of Mani from 1967 till he died and never lost an election from Pala.

BJP on Sunday released a list of 112 candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, fielding state party chief K Surendran from two constituencies (Manjeshwar and Konni) while Metroman E Sreedharan will contest from Palakkad. BJP will contest on 115 seats in Kerala.
Addressing a press conference, BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said, In Kerala, BJP will be contesting 115 seats and the rest of 25 seats will be left for four parties. State BJP chief K Surendran will contest from two constituencies - from Manjeshwar in Kasaragod and Konni in Pathanamthitta.
