Vester flanagan, a former reporter at the station who grew up right here in the bay area. Flanagan posted his own video of the shooting. And later he killed himself as Police Closed in. Tonight, coworkers are remembering Alison Parker and her cameraman adam ward. Parker had just celebrated her 24th birthday. She had been at the station for a year. Ward had been at the local station for a few years. They were both thought of highly. They did great work every day and put their all into what they did. Im going to miss them. I heard one of my colleagues say alison was ambitious but in a good way, not ambitious to climb over people but ambitious to be successful with whatever it is she was assigned. Adam, um, was a wonderful person to be around. Consistently positive. A really good photojournalist, good shooter and editor. Vester flanagan was fired from the station in 2013. A picture is emerging of flanagan as an angry disgruntled employee nothing like the person people remembered back here

Virginia. The man who killed them a former coworker who got his start here in the bay area. We wont show you the most graphic part of the shooting, but what you will see could be disturbing. Heres don champion reporting from virginia. Reporter with heavy hearts, the morning crew at the cbs station in roanoke, virginia returned to work this morning minus two members of its team. Unfair and unimaginable that were not going to see their smiling faces. Reporter reporter Alison Parker and photographer adam ward were ambushed and killed live on the air wednesday morning [ shots ] by a disgruntled former employee of the station. That employee was a fellow journalist. Reporter Vester Flanagan went by the name Bryce Williams while reporting for the station. The 41yearold was fired two years ago. Lets take a look at that radar image thats over the gulf coast where harvey had briefly gone out to sea but there it is whipping back around for a second hit on texas and louisiana. It is heading east. So many dramatic images coming in overnight. You saw victims stuck in the aftermath of harvey. Desperately seeking to be rescued. So many pitching in to help. Thats right.
