NMPT initiates process to shift stray cattle to Go Shala Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA New Mangalore Port Trust on Wednesday started sending stray cows roaming around on the port premises to Go Swarga Goshala of Ramachandrapur Mutt near Hosanagar. The first batch of four head of cattle was sent to the Go Shala in the presence of Vishwa Hindu Parishat leader M.B. Puranik and others on the NMPT premises, said a release here. With the port witnessing business growth, it is also endowed with responsibilities and the safety and sustenance of stray cattle roaming around the premises was one of its concerns. Cattle have been present on the port premises since its inception and there were possibilities of cattle getting injured or killed due to movement of heavy vehicles inside the premises.

NMPT pact with IOCL for bunkering facility April 06, 2021 New Mangalore Port Trust on Tuesday signed an agreement with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd to provide bunkering facilities for vessels. A press release by NMPT said that it had invited tenders from firms experienced in providing the facilities. IOC won the bid for a five-year period offering highest minimum volume of bunker offered by a firm, it said, adding the expected minimum cargo to be handled will be 90,000 tonnes annually. Bunkering is a facility of supplying of fuel for use by ships and includes the shipboard logistics of loading fuel and distributing it among available bunker tanks.
