They sat with their warm mugs in the conservatory, and conversation turned to Mangar’s father. “And I burst into tears,” recalls Mangar. “It was embarrassing. It was a shock. It was so unexpected, and it was the most unexpected place for it to happen. And I guess that was when I really realised the depth and the pain of it, the loss and the regret of not having Dad, not having any dad.”
