For the second straight year, a Rideau Carleton Raceway track record has fallen during Ontario Sires Stakes competition. In the second of two $99,800 Gold Series divisions at the Ottawa oval on Sunday, July 11, three-year-old trotting colt Logan Park sprinted down the stretch to reel in pacesetter Highland Mowgli and trip the teletimer at 1:52.4. Highland Mowgli settled for second, a half length behind the favourite, and Macho Martini was three lengths behind in third. The mile lowered the former three-year-old trotting colt and gelding record of 1:54.1 set by All Wrapped Up in 2019 and equaled the all-age track record set by P L Notsonice in three-year-old trotting filly Gold Series action last summer.

Trainer Mandy Archer had a productive Thursday at Rideau Carleton Raceway thanks to a four-win performance on the 11-race card. Archer teamed up with Guy Gagnon to take the opener with Malvolio in 2:00. They also joined forces to capture Race 4 with Thinkingofyoubabe in 1:58.2. Gagnon then went down the road in Race 5 with the Archer-trained The Twist in 1:59.4. Samuel Fillion piloted Archer’s final winner on the card – Wisk Key K in 1:57 in Race 7. Archer has assembled a solid record of 28-22-17 from the 123 starters she’s sent out this year. Those numbers have earned her a .373 UTR and earnings in excess of $135,000.

With Clarke Steacy at the lines, Parisian Blue Chip hustled to the lead from Post 6 and carved out fractions of :28, :57.1 and 1:26 before storming home in :27.2 to win by 5-1/4 lengths over Thinkingofyougabe in 1:53.2. Arrhythmogenic was third. Sent off at odds of 1-2, the six-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-She Walks The Walk won for the first time this season from nine attempts for owners Stephen Klunowski and David McDonald. The 17-time winner lifted her lifetime earnings to $338,919 with the victory.

Leaving from the second tier, Vero Amore Bi landed in third as pylon-starter Cloud Nine Hanover led the field to the quarter in :28.3. Healey then sent his 7-year-old Manofmanymissions stallion after the lead through a :59 half to seize control and accelerate up the backside. Passing three-quarters in 1:27.1, Vero Amore Bi strolled off the turn and maintained his speed to the finish of a 1:56.4 mile while chased home by Magic Night, who took second by 1 3/4 lengths. Lestenpercent closed from near last for third.
