By MARNIE EISENSTADT | syracuse.com | Published: April 27, 2021 Syracuse, N.Y. (Tribune News Service) Matthew J. Greene spent six years in the National Guard hunting and fighting terrorists. Then the Syracuse man became one, according to federal prosecutors. Greene, 33, has been charged with coordinating and leading the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 in an attempt to overthrow the government and interrupt the peaceful transfer of power. When it searched his house, the FBI found a bulletproof helmet in the backpack he was seen wearing at the Capitol. The FBI found records that Greene had bought 250 rounds of ammunition for an AR15 assault rifle Dec. 30. The ammo was loaded into a military-style vest.
