Elizabeth âBethâ Marie Fischer was born on November 9, 1949 in Austin, Texas. The second of three children, Bethâalong with elder sister Martha and younger brother Carlâgrew up in New Braunfels, eventually graduating from New Braunfels High School in 1968.
After high school, Beth attended Texas Womanâs University in Denton, Texas, graduating in four years with a degree from the College of Health Sciences â School of Occupational Therapy.
After graduation, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to pursue a post-graduate degree. However, her penchant for service lead her instead to take a position at St. Josephâs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she ran the rehabilitation program for three years.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Sarasota County Sheriffâs Office announced the promotions of two deputies within the department. Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman promoted Deputy Leon Traska to the rank of Sergeant, assigned to the Corrections Operations Bureau and Deputy Michael L. SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Sarasota Police Cheif Jim Rieser announced the promotion of Lieutenant Scott Mayforth and Lieutenant Ken Rainey to the rank of Captain.
Captain Mayforth will be the commander of the Patrol Division. Mayforth has over 2,220 training hours in investigations, patrol and tactical operations, and leadership and management. He holds an associate of arts in arts and science from St. Petersburg Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in communications from Boston University.
