I am a tenant representative for south of market soma residents council, which represents about 600 people in the south of market area. I also a member of senior and disability action and take my dog, lulu, to the park on a regular basis. Im also a former plot holder at victoria Manalo Draves, so i have a really intimate knowledge of this park. I can tell you from first hand experience that shadow is a huge problem. As a former plot holder i had to move my plot because of the shadow created by the very dense im guessing ficus trees that were growing. I have called numerous times to have trees trimmed because of the problem of shad i dont know. Anything that would create a problem with shadow in this park would be a huge problem. As a result im asking you to please not allow this project to go forward in its present form unless the builder is willing to install permane

Please continue your conversation. You will notice there are a number of supporters here, as well as opponents. The opponents are wearing stickers that say dont evict the sunlight from the park. We believe the opposition is really about unrelated eviction issues and we ask that you focus, please, on the issue before the commission today, which is a negligible shading impact on the park. This project is about creating housing, including Affordable Housing. The project sponsor should not be penalized because of his unpopularity. To the extent that some of the people that we were instructed to negotiate with, actually showed up and held a protest and evictionrelated protest in the project sponsors shoe store. We are excited about this project and were disappointed there is opposition completely unrelated to the issue here. Were confident and hope that the commission will take that into account.
