NEW DELHI, Dec 23: The Centre has decided to develop a national database of cooperatives that will help in better implementation of the proposed national policy on cooperatives, Cooperation Secretary D K Singh said on Thursday. “Many people ask how many cooperatives are operating in the country and their sector-wise presence. NCDC joins hands with IIT Kharagpur to boost co-ops
IIT Kharagpur and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) have signed an MoU towards greater collaboration in issues and areas related to the development of cooperatives, agriculture and allied sectors.
A Joint Working Group will also be set up to monitor various activities under the MoU and suggest necessary measures for its development.
The scope of the MoU will involve the advancement of training, action research, studies, policy analysis, policy advice, consultancy, monitoring, evaluation, system development and technology development, said IIT-Kgp in a press release.
Earlier, NCDC team led by its Managing Director Sundeep Nayak visited IIT Kharagpur and discussed areas of partnership in agriculture and food engineering focused on cooperatives.
