Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood sat down with Meriton founder and Managing Director Harry Triguboff to chat about Australia, housing, migration and the future.
For more than 60 years Mr Triguboff has built apartments starting with red-brick blocks of flats but, eventually, some of the tallest buildings in the nation’s capital cities.
“When the virus started it was difficult because at that time, we lost migrants and we lost our students, so suddenly we had many empty apartments,” Mr Triguboff told Sky News.
“It didn’t worry me, but I had to be quick and decide what to do.
“The serviced apartments were hit most of all, so I said alright, they’re all furnished, we will lease them as furnished apartments, so my loss became very small.”
Mr Triguboff said Australia needs to open its borders a soon as possible and should be more worried about the number of people who are vaccinated than the number of COIVD cases in the community.
