Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has agreed a contract extension through to the World Cup in 2026.
The previous deal for De la Fuente, 62, had been due to expire this summer but this extension ensures he will continue coaching the men’s national team beyond this summer’s European Championship and through to the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
De la Fuente guided Spain to their first-ever Nations League triumph last year, when they defeated Croatia in a penalty shootout in the final.
He also oversaw Spain’s qualification for this summer’s.

World Confederation of Penyes held today the
41st Penyes World Congress, held this year without a live audience but online for the 171,000 supporters club members as well as all FC Barcelona members and fans around the world to watch from home. Had it not been for the outbreak of Covid-19, the event would have been held in August of last year on the occasion of the Joan Gamper Trophy. It was screened today Sunday on Barça TV and Barça TV+ and was also streamed on the FC Barcelona and World Confederation of Penyes websites.
Electoral Board confirms impossibility of holding elections

FC Barcelona Electoral Board, following the meeting on Friday 15 January 15 between the club’s Managing Committee and the Government of Catalonia, has been informed that it is impossible to go ahead with the Presidential Elections scheduled for January 24 and the election process is thus provisionally suspended.
According to article 44.4.c of the FC Barcelona Statutes, the Electoral Board wishes to state:
The decision to postpone the elections can only be made by the body that called those elections, which may either be the Board of Directors or the Managing Commission, pursuant to article 43 of the said FC Barcelona Statutes.
