The county reports fewer people coming through the vaccination site. There are many places that are on line or are coming on line to provide vaccines, Brady said
The vaccination site at the former Sears, Roebuck building at Edison Mall will close as of June 18. The Florida Department of Health Lee County clinics will take over at its Lee County clinics beginning June 21.
In all, Lee County s health department has given 217,538 vaccines at locations that have include the Southwest Florida airport property, Edison Mall and assorted events run by the county to administer shots.
Testing is also winding down. The state Department of Emergency Management will shutter the outdoor testing clinic at Century Link Park in south Fort Myers on Sunday.

Lee County’s mayors, commissioners and state representatives signed a letter sent to the the governor’s office asking him to visit the county’s vaccine.
Lee County is proud of its smooth operation at the old airport site, and Lee County leaders want the governor to see it for himself. They believe, if he visits, he will then send more vaccines.
“It’s runs like a Swiss watch,” Estero Mayor Bill Ribble said.
The letter asks the governor to put his foot on the gas and send more vaccines to Lee County, where workers can put thousands of shots in arms if only given the chance.

Gov. Ron DeSantis hopscotched across Florida on Tuesday to announce an expanded partnership with the Publix grocery store chain to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to seniors and front-line medical workers closer to where they live.
The idea, the governor said during a midday stop outside a Publix in Cape Coral, is to expand access for seniors who may have a difficult time navigating Department of Health-operated call-in registration systems and getting to centralized vaccine centers. In Lee County, for instance, the vaccination center is near the Southwest Florida International Airport.

Those in the general public who are supposed to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are not happy with what has been at times confusion over the rollout for many in Lee County.
People are upset and criticizing how Lee County is handling the vaccine distribution due to long lines and disorganization.
We spoke to city leaders in Lee County Wednesday where vaccinations are happening, and they shared their suggestions for the county. County Manager Roger Desarlais was present to receive and respond to questions.
