(The Center Square) – The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) has fired or suspended 18 employees since March 2020 after criminal investigations.
Thousands of Michiganders are still dealing with issues from the state unemployment system. Last week state House lawmakers passed a series of bills aimed at fixing some of the problems.
The headaches continue for thousands of Michiganders who applied for unemployment assistance during the pandemic and then were told last year to pay the money back.
Months later, they still can’t get a straight answer on what to do and/or if they’ll have to pay.
