Burrow Road barrier will be open on weekdays only

Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District has reported that it received a number of requests to close the barrier at the Burrow Road, Courtown. The aim of this was to cut off vehicular access to the Burrow Road in Courtown in light of Level 5 restrictions and due to large numbers congregating in the small car park at the end of the Burrow. District Manager Michael Drea said that Municipal District staff monitored the situation. Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District closed the barrier. The intention was that walkers would park in the larger public car park, which would enable greater social distancing. The issue of significant numbers congregating appears to be restricted to the weekend and in light of this, Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District will now leave the barrier open Monday to Friday but close it over the weekend.

Finishing touches to murals as year ends

The finishing touches have been added to the final mural on the town s colourful Civic Square, marking the completion of the colourful Gorey Tidy Towns art wall. District Manager Michael Drea paid tribute to the group and all the local artists who created the murals, namely Kate Kos, James Kirwan, Amanda Doran and Nonie Stafford. I would like to commend Gorey Tidy Towns who have worked closely with Wexford County Council to deliver a stunning wall of murals. The murals showcase the depth of artistic talent in the area and I would like to acknowledge their work and creativity. We look forward to unveiling some stunning new murals in the future which are currently at concept stage, he said.
