GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The city of Grand Rapids says it will follow an order to revoke the disciplinary action against Grand Rapids Police Capt. Curt VanderKooi.
VanderKooi received a 20-hour unpaid suspension after his contact with federal immigration officials led to the detainment of a U.S. Marine veteran in November 2018.
The Grand Rapids Police Commander Officers Association (GRPCOA) said it filed a grievance and an impartial arbitrator reviewed the city’s actions against VanderKooi.
