OSU on-campus parking plummets amid COVID

Dramatically, the Corvallis City Council heard in a presentation at Monday’s virtual session. The annual monitoring report that university officials provide to the city shows just 21% of general on-campus spots were being used last fall. A total of 53% of the residence hall sports were used. In March, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary released two rescued baby beaver sisters to their nursery which has been specifically created to be a wild haven for the animals, after years of work and development. The pair, named Barbara and Twiggy by the public, have been in the sanctuary for a month now, and have settled well exploring and building a shelter. A huge section of the Sanctuary’s woodland has been prepared for the beavers, encompassing all the elements that beavers need to live a happy and healthy life.

Corvallis council works on team building

The Corvallis City Council and city staff participated Thursday in a remote two-hour work session on team building, roles and responsibilities. The session was facilitated by Larry Patterson and Andy Parks of GEL Oregon. Parks also served six months as the city’s interim finance director. The discussion was a blend of principles and practical examples and came to life mainly when the latter were on the table. Issues covered ranged from parliamentary procedure to meeting protocols, with the key thread being “why does the council sometimes bog down?” Patterson noted an experience he had working with an unnamed city on its transportation system plan update. The process took 2½ years.

The preliminary investigation indicates the firefighter faked documents and supply logs to cover up repeated thefts over at least a year and a half, city officials said.
