Lake Wales Police Chief Chris Velasquez said the first training session for implementation of the city s body camera pilot is scheduled for May 27. The city s officers will go live with the body cameras later in the summer. Initially it sounds easy to buy body cameras and set it up, Velazquez said. We have to make sure we have sufficient hands-on training. It seems like an easy task. It s something that needs to be practice and muscle memory for it to become effective.
