Reminder: Last Chance To Take Community Survey About New County Manager Characteristics

Thursday, May 27, is the last day to take the survey regarding the unique and important characteristics necessary for the County Manager position. The survey is being hosted by the County’s consultant, CPS-HR.
CPS-HR is seeking the community’s feedback in order to obtain information that will be used in designing interview questions and assessment activities to assist in determining whether candidates possess the attributes being sought.
The survey is posted on the New County Manager recruitment website, which provides other information to the public about the search for a new County Manager.

Recently, there has been some misinformation in local media regarding Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC) and its associated Chamber of Commerce and MainStreet programs. I’d like to take this opportunity to provide some facts about the organization and the work we do.
LACDC is a private not-for-profit 501 C (6) economic development organization. It is not part of, nor subsidized by, Los Alamos County or by Los Alamos National Laboratory. LACDC does have a contract with the County to operate both visitor centers and a contract to perform Main Street services and fund the Creative District.

Los Alamos is on day 414 of the COVID-19 pandemic, but since day one the County has had Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson helping it navigate and overcome this immense obstacle.
“I’m not sure what the County would have done without Beverley during this past year,” County Manager Harry Burgess said. “She has been an amazing asset to our entire community as she led us through our response to the pandemic, and as the event progressed she managed to shift her focus to implementing a very effective vaccination distribution.
