On Thursday, May 20, 2021, US President Biden signed an Executive Order, entitled Climate-Related Financial Risk (Climate Risk EO), that sets the stage for the US federal government, including its financial regulatory agencies, to begin to incorporate climate-risk and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into financial regulation. The Climate Risk EO further demonstrates the priority the Biden administration is giving to addressing climate change and will likely accelerate ongoing efforts by federal financial regulators to adopt new, climate risk-related regulations. Geely now an IATF member - first Asian automaker to be appointed as a voting member of the organisation

14 April 2021 12:10 pm / 5 comments Geely Auto has just become the latest automaker to become a member of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), a global organisation that sets automotive quality standards. Geely is also the first Asian member to be appointed, and it will work together with other members in the formation, improvement and standardisation of international quality standards. The organisation is also known to be committed to improving production efficiency in the automotive supply chain. Geely’s senior quality director, Dr Howard Xu, has been nominated to be the voting representative in the IATF. Other members include major auto groups like BMW, Daimler, Ford, GM, Renault, Stellantis, and Volkswagen, as well as national automobile associations from the US (AIAG), Italy (ANFIA), France (FIEV), UK (SMMT) and Germany (VDA).

The Better Cotton Initiative launches in Greece

Fibre2Fashion Toggle navigation 21 Pic: Better Cotton Initiative The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) has announced that Greek Agro-2 Integrated Management Standards have been successfully benchmarked as equivalent to Better Cotton Standard System which will promote more sustainable Greek cotton farming. Greece is the largest cotton-producing country in Europe, with more than 45,000 registered cotton farmers.   Farmers certified under the Agro-2 standards who elect to participate in the BCI programme will now be eligible to sell their cotton as Better Cotton from the 2020-21 cotton season. By the end of 2022, it is estimated that 5,000 farmers will be growing Agro-2 licensed cotton (equivalent to Better Cotton), on 40,000 hectares, producing around 185,000 bales.
