New Zealand was counting the cost of a powerful cyclone that swept across the north of the country earlier this week after a second firefighter died of his injuries in hospital bringing the death toll to six.
Authorities on Wednesday confirmed three deaths after Cyclone Gabrielle cut a trail of destruction across northern New Zealand, with helicopters plucking hundreds from their roofs as floods surged overnight.
