services subcommittee is expected to produce its final report on benghazi sometime before february. jamie? jamie: james rosen, thank you for that. and the question is, what happened before we got here? the road to answers in benghazi, it s been a very long one n. the days right after the attacks, the obama administration blamed a spontaneous protest spurred by an anti-muslim film. then on september 16th u.s. ambassador to the u.n. susan rice went on five sunday news shows and blamed the attack on that video. september 26th, published reports show intelligence agencies and the obama administration knew within 24 hours that terrorists were involved. and december 18th the accountability review board finds that systematic management failures at the state department led to inadequate security. january 23rd, secretary of state hillary clinton testifies before a congressional committee on benghazi. april 30th, a special ops member
manner and they must be corrected. the agency stands ready to confront the problems that occurred, hold accountable those who acted inappropriately, be open about what happened, and permanently fix these problems so that such missteps do not occur again. clearly, ensuring full accountable for the actions taken and the management failures that allowed them to occur, must be one of our first orders of business. that is why there is new leadership at several critical areas of the chain of command. we have new leadership in the pigser s office and new leaders carrying out the duties
that s happened in this more than 30 years, plus americans. and when you read the benghazi report called the arb, you will see that they talk systematic failures at the state department, management failures where intelligence reports were dismissed. we left the four americans to die there, even though they continually called for added security. now, the state department is going to say, well, they need more money. nowhere does it say that they need more money. the american people know that the state department wouldn t be wasting money on global climate change or culinary diplomacy, they would have more money. they would have all the money they need. but to purposely mislead the american public by making it seem as if there were some accountability at the state department when, in fact, there was none, they ve got a lot to answer to, and we ll be hearing from secretary clinton in a few weeks, and this deserves a full explanation on her part. this is demeaning to the
gaddafi is gone and on to what might be happening in cairo. paul: what are the implications for secretary clinton and i assume, we all assume she ll run for president. well, this, it s secretary clinton, i think, could not have hoped for a better report than the one that she got, because let s face it, management failures, we said management screwups happen all the time and this was very regrettable, it s time as the saying goes to move on and she s going to like what is in the report, it has no specific accountability to her. paul: we have to take one more break. when we come back our hits and misses o o o o o
recommendation for disciplinary action, that s the last line of this report. so, what you have here is basically saying, look, you know, there were management failures, paul, and they had tragic consequences, we know the state department is a large bureaucracy with eyes on many, many countries, terrible things happened. we hope they won t happen again. now what, we had the the same thing in nairobi and another report of recommendations how better to secure these sorts of facilities. didn t happen. ten years from now we ll be revisiting this same store of story. what they ve done is reduced this to a bureaucratic screw-up. and what hasn t been reviewed is what was the u.s. policy in eastern libya. the cia was in eastern libya because they were concerned that al-qaeda was using that part of the country to recruit people into the terrorist organization, now, what was the u.s. state department and obama administration s policy towards libya?
