Learning to Stand on CEREMONY (at a young age) at Japanese NYU-GAKU SHIKI (入学式) School Entrance Ceremonies
6 April, 2021
The Japanese school year begins in April – purposely coinciding with the blooming of the cherry blossoms and the first phase of the annual rice cultivation process. Entrance ceremonies at schools and companies are usually held while the cherry trees are in bloom. The sing at the entrance to the elementary school above reads: NYU-GAKU SHIKI (Entrance Ceremony)
This year, however, the blossoms had already fallen away on the day of the the NYU-GAKUSHIKI – giving commemorative photos very different look!
