Undefeated boxing sensation Ryan Garcia is already off to a tremendous start in 2021, as the 22-year-old became the first American boxer to sign a national sponsorship deal with Gatorade earlier this week.
Garcia, who defeated Luke Campbell via seventh-round TKO earlier this month to claim the vacant WBC interim lightweight title, is one of the most exciting young names in combat sports today. Oscar De La Hoya has taken the young boxer under his wing as a main member of Golden Boy Promotions and that has allowed “Flash” to cruise to an impressive 21-0 career record.

If you thought Manny Pacquiao facing UFC star Conor McGregor in a boxing ring would be an over the top endeavor, consider and consider well the possibility of Pacquiao squaring off with boxing’s most notable rising star, Ryan Garcia…because, according to reliable sources, a Pacquiao-Garcia bout is a legit possibility. Garcia indicated as much when he posted a fight poster featuring he and Pacquiao on Instagram. Sources inform Boxing Insider, however, that there’s more here than just empty hype. Although UFC great McGregor was said to be in line to face Pacquiao as recently as twenty four hours before this writing, the Irishman’s loss to Dustin Poirier this past Saturday may have helped alter the equation.
Pacquiao nor Garcia s team at Golden Boy Promotions have made any statement on the news.
Garcia had previously suggested that it would be a ‘dream’ to take on the Filipino legend, who at 42 is fighting far less often than he had in his prime.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Californian Garcia has emerged on the scene as one of several promising lightweight contenders in a division stacked with talent. The American’s last fight came against British veteran Luke Campbell, with Garcia winning with by knockout with a brutal body shot in the seventh round despite being knocked down for the first team in his career earlier in the contest.
